Sacred Soil was born from a marriage of two life's callings — one rooted in caring for the land, the other in caring for grieving families. Founders Chris and Andrea Wasley bring together decades of entrepreneurship and end-of-life care to offer the Northeast its first Natural Organic Reduction (Terramation) service.


‍Chris Wasley – An Entrepreneur's Path

‍Chris grew up around family enterprise. The Wasley name has been part of Farmington and Plainville, Connecticut's business community since 1926, when his grandfather founded Wasley Products. Rather than join the family business alongside his brother, Chris set out to build something of his own.

He pursued a hands-on, hospitality-focused education: an associate’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Paul Smith's College, additional studies in ski and resort management in Sierra Nevada, and a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality & Tourism with a minor in Marketing from Central Connecticut State University.

In 1999, Chris founded Infinity Lawns in Plainville, CT, a lawn care and landscaping company he built and ran successfully for over two decades. After more than 25 years growing that business, Chris found himself ready for a new chapter — one that would soon take shape alongside his wife's vision.

‍Andrea Wasley – A Calling to Care

‍Andrea has worked in funeral service since she was 16 years old. She earned her degree in Mortuary Science from Briarwood College and became a licensed funeral director, eventually opening her own practice, Plainville Funeral Home, serving Connecticut families with traditional casket funerals and cremation services.

A few years ago, Andrea attended a presentation on Natural Organic Reduction — also known as Terramation — and was immediately drawn to the process. She saw it as a natural extension of the compassionate, personalized care she had spent her career providing.

‍A Shared Vision Takes Root

‍Over the past several years, Andrea's growing interest in Terramation became a shared conversation about what it might look like to bring this gentle, eco-friendly option to families in the Northeast. With Chris ready for a career change after building Infinity Lawns into a thriving business, and the couple owning a second home in Whitingham, Vermont — one of the first states to legalize Natural Organic Reduction — the pieces came together.

That vision became Sacred Soil, which began operations in Whitingham in the summer of 2026 as the first fully operational Terramation facility in New England, following authorization from the State of Vermont.

"The process is gentle, quiet and natural," Chris told shortly after opening. "This service is in line with people that love gardening, recycling and going green... It really is a 'going green' movement."

‍Building a Regional Movement

‍Chris and Andrea see Sacred Soil as more than a single facility — it's the start of a regional model for compassionate, sustainable end-of-life care. Through a partnership with The Natural Funeral's TerraCare Partner Program, Sacred Soil is working to bring Terramation within reach of funeral homes and families across Boston, Burlington, Hartford, and Providence, and beyond."

"We've built Sacred Soil to partner with funeral homes throughout the Northeast, empowering them to offer Terramation to the families they've served for generations while keeping their loved ones in the care of the funeral professionals they trust."

‍For Chris, Sacred Soil carries forward a family tradition of entrepreneurship that began with his grandfather nearly a century ago — now applied to one of the most meaningful services a family can offer. For Andrea, it's the natural evolution of a lifelong devotion to caring for families in their most difficult moments. Together, they've created a space where both legacies meet: honoring life, and nourishing tomorrow.
